Welcome to Heaven's Gate.

I started this series, speaking about how Heaven's Gate was made of people like you and

me. Curious people, people who want to believe they found something special. And I revealed

my own experience in a group that taught that the end was not. I stayed in the World

Watcher of God through my late teens partly because my community was there with me. And

in my own experience, I found that you'll accept a lot of nonsense to feel a part of something,

to have that connection. And I think sometimes what if I'd never been in that church? What

if my parents had said, you know what? This is crazy. Come on kids, we're out of here.

What I see the world completely differently. Who would I be even now? Well, today's show

is full of ifs and butthorns. Specifically, what if Marshall Applewhite had just remained

a singer? What if a young member of Heaven's Gate had not been on the autism spectrum? And

but for our daughter's love, where would a father have gone after the biggest mistake

of his life? This is Heaven's Gate Episode 8, The Unknowns.
