And for the first time ever, we've kind of divided one year into two parts because there were just so many great albums or not necessarily great, but some interesting albums too, maybe not so great, but ones that we wanted to talk about, that we felt we had to make this a two-parter. So this is part two of 1979. A new decade is just around the corner. What's going on? Well, there's a lot going on. We've already talked

a lot about what was going on in the world of art rock, what was going on the world of singer-songwriters,

progressive rock, post-punk, synth-pop. But there are also this year some albums which are,

well, I tell you what, first of all, let me just do a quick, a brief recap of what's going on

in some other genres. So jazz rock, we have some great jazz rock albums this year.

We have Brand X product. We have Bruford's one of a kind. We've also got Frank Zappa making not one, not two, but three albums this year, I think. Joe's Garage Act 1, perhaps being the real standout from the albums he made this year. Carlos Santana made a solar record this year, Oneness, Weather Reports 830.

If you like Weather Report, this is them at their best.

Anyway, so we disagree on that.

And then we have the world of heavy rock.
