The record heat spreading.

I'm Lee Silicera Fox News more than a third of the United States on alert as the deadly

heat wave that's been impacting the West for weeks is now headed east.

The next few days are going to be the hottest of the year so far.

The heat index right around 98 degrees and that's close to what we're seeing in both South

Bend, Indiana and Detroit as well.

You go a bit further southwest though.

Those temps are a lot higher.

We're talking about triple digits on the heat index and cedar rapids Kansas City, Oklahoma

City and St. Louis.

Those kinds of conditions are pushing folks to get outside early before the heat really

turns on trying to get my walks in with my dog early to avoid a lot of the heat and

the air quality issues for sure.

It's going to be here through at least the end of the week.

Fox's Garrett, Tenney and Chicago, the heat's expected to impact the Northeast later this

week with temperatures peaking on Friday.

California's energy operator is declared an energy emergency alert watch from 6 p.m.

through 11 p.m.

Due to what they're calling a supply uncertainty and high demand across the Western U.S.

The White House not saying much after the plea deal for President Biden's unhunter

was scrapped earlier today.

Hunter Biden is a private citizen and this was a personal matter for him.
