Today's an absolute tragic day for the city of Charlotte and for the profession of law enforcement.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings after three members of a U.S.

Marshals task force were killed and five other officers were wounded this afternoon.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force went to the 5,000 block of Galway

Avenue and attempt to serve a warrant on an individual for possession of firearm by a convicted felon.

He says the officers were shot at as they approached the home.

They fired the suspect in the front yard.

That suspect was killed.

Two other people found in the home after three hour standoff are now in custody.

Jennings says two shooters were involved in the attack.

Two Polk County, Florida deputies remain hospitalized and the man who shot them is dead after a shooting at a park Saturday night

Polk County Sheriff Brady Judd says the deputies were trying to pull the man from

a car after he refused commands to get out on his own. His car started rolling, they grabbed the window, and all of a

sudden he started shooting. Sheriff's office had ordered extra patrols in the area because

there had been a series of thefts from cars.

Columbia University has begun suspending students who refuse to break down encampments
