state of Washington millions for its role in the opioid crisis.

Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson announcing a nearly 150 million dollar

settlement with Johnson and Johnson, noting over 123 million will be used to combat the opioid crisis.

The state suing the company in 2020,

alleging it helped drive the pharmaceutical industry's

expansion of prescription opioids and misled

doctors and the public about the risk of addiction and

the drugs effectiveness in treating chronic pain. Johnson and Johnson maintains

marketing and promotion of important prescription opioid medications were appropriate and responsible.

Washington State previously rejecting a settlement with the company for about $99 million.

The latest settlement still needs to be approved by a judge.
