Where to start with this one?

I think after the Real Madrid game,

I've seen it in so many sports, not just football,

where you have that big emotional expenditure during a game.

Your follow-up performance is always quite flat.

I think the amount that the players invested,

the amount that their coaching staff,

the club had invested in the Madrid game,

obviously how that ended and really just the effort

and the way that they played that game and then the fallout,

but obviously losing the tie being knocked out of the European cup, etc.

And what felt like quite a sort of momentous actual game for Chelsea.

I felt like it was sort of inevitable really that the palace performance

was going to be a level to maybe even three levels below at times.

Palace lined up I think in a very unusual shape for them,

not something that I've seen them play an awful lot.
