where the reporting on Syria is best

when you read Ahmed Sharrari of the FD, Al-Shara, formerly Al-Jalani, is a man who is a self-named president of Syria,

former leader of a cutthroat band out of Idlib province that you generally understood as Al-Qaeda, although it kept changing its names, it didn't change

its stripes. Since his move into Damascus, there have been not one but two massacres of conflicts,

one on the coastline of Syria against the Alawites, which is a separate understanding of Islam than the Sunni supremacists

that represent al-Qaeda. The other against the Druze, another understanding of religion that is

separate from the supremacist Sunnis. Damascus is the headquarters of Al-shara, and he commands a very loyal group of

lieutenants, all of whom have blood on their hands to be metaphorical. And yet, Reuters is reporting

that Alshara is at the White House or has been in these last hours. He did not get the fanfare

of a visiting head of state.

The president, that means the president did not meet him at the limousy that escorted him

into the Oval Office.

Reuters wants us to know that Shara entered by a side door and did not walk in front of the bevy of cameras that are arranged

for visiting heads of state. We do not at this point believe that is unimportant. In other words,

the White House is ambivalent at this point about Al-Shara delivering. We're told by Reuters again that one of the things that Al-Sharra wants is a lifting of the

Caesar Act.
