0:13.2	It's a lovely sunny day outside in December and we're continuing the conversation we had
0:20.4	about his wartime career.
0:22.4	And last time, I think we got as far as market garden and then you had to disappear off
0:27.6	to a funeral memorial service, I think Stuart.
0:30.8	But now we're going to go back to market garden.
0:34.9	You were behind the Irish guards, weren't you?
0:37.2	Had you been attached to 8th Army Brigade at this point?
0:39.4	Yes, we were with 8th Army Brigade.
0:42.7	The Irish guards group led the invans up the main road to the Maritime home.
0:50.1	And we were sort of waiting while they got over the Earth Coker now.
0:54.4	It was very familiar that we went on.
0:57.8	So what can you remember of that time?
1:01.2	September 1944, you've hurtled across Belgium and out of France and into Belgium and into Holland.
1:08.3	I mean, it must have been a kind of slightly exhilarating time, wasn't it?
1:11.2	Yes, it was. It was amazing.
1:14.2	Every now and then we got checked.
1:16.2	Right, because of the Germans, every now and then we put out an anti-tank gun or something
1:20.6	which hurled us up a bit.
1:21.6	Right.
1:22.4	But then we paused.
1:24.4	We were based in Berkeley, about before the advance of the unhoven road started.
