Hiking is something that can be a lot of fun.

Personally, I like to go hiking as much as I can with my dogs and my girlfriend.

It is a ton of fun in all the beautiful sites that we have seen over the years will forever

be in my memories, but sometimes it seems there are some creepy and downright unexplainable

things lurking around every bend in the trail.

Years ago I moved from a tiny town to a remote valley in the middle of nowhere surrounded

by a national forest and a few neighbors.

It was just what I had always wanted.

At that point in my life I had been a paramedic for about 5 or 6 years.

Looking outdoorsy and civic-minded, I volunteered with a local search and rescue organization.

For being so small, poorly funded organization we were surprisingly busy.

In the 9 years I was with them, we had at least one rescue, sometimes several every weekend

from spring through fall.

The source of the majority of these calls was roughly the 100 miles of poorly maintained
