musicians in movies. Absolutely, Greg. The Oscars are just around the corner

and this business of musicians on film is a common one.

From the beginning of popular music we've seen musicians also taking a starring role on the

silver screen including Tupac who will talk about later.

It's only natural, I think, for a musician to branch out into film because so much of popular

music is creating this persona, this larger-than-life persona on stage. It's already acting and then

so to take that in front of the cameras just makes sense. Think about Ziggy

Star Dust or Sasha Fierce or Janelle Monet's Ark Android.

In acting roles some artists even play a version of themselves and that's usually a mix

bag about how well they do. I think when they're stretching what they are

on stage into something different but related that's when they're at their best.

Anyway we're each going to share four of our favorite performances and

Soul. One of my first thoughts when we discussed this topic was her performance if you can call it a performance is really

Aretha being a wreatha in the blues brothers exactly one of the great musical movies of all time

It is you know you can't see a lot about the plot okay?

Some of the comedy is still really great some of it hasn't held up so well but the

musical performances in this movie are altogether astounding and still are.
