Hello heroes and welcome to another exciting episode of one shot. I'm James

Damato, your game master. This week we are continuing fate month with a role

playing system. I am really happy to introduce to you guys. It's called Edrigore. It's a dark fantasy horror system with an interesting twist. Edrigore draws inspiration for its mythology from native traditions around the world.

That's fantasy monster and culture ideas coming from mythologies like

Lakota, Aboriginal, and even Celtic.

If native cultures get used in fantasy role playing,, generally speaking they're all mishmashed together into the same sort of nebulous stand-in for native cultures.

Not to point any fingers, but a lot of role-playing games are using the medieval setting as their perspective point.

I really love medieval role-playing, but I also want to see more creativity out there, and that's why Edregore appeals to me. Since people were

people they were telling stories it serves no one to cut yourself off from

certain traditions simply because you didn't grow up with them. Setting aside

Edregore is also really interesting because of how it uses fate

fate to tell a horror story. One of the criticisms I hear of fate is often that

you decide when your character gets hit. The encounters in Edrigor feel dangerous and add to the thrill of the story.

And that's because of what designer Alan Turner decided to emphasize in his version of fate.
