In high school, I was failing my US history class.

My teacher came and asked me where I grew up and I told her from like a small ranch in New Mexico.

And she said, oh, I've heard a lot of like tales that there's this big bird that flies around that area.

And, you know, I just don't want to get in the conversation with her.

So I was just like, yeah, my grandma has seen it before.

And she was like, oh my gosh, if you write a paper describing this bird to me,

interview your grandma, write a paper, I'll give you extra credit and you'll be able to pass the class.

So I came up with this big essay talking about this bird that nobody's ever seen.

And, anyways, I passed the class.

Well, I graduated and soon we're from like this small town.

I would still see her at stores and stuff.

And every time I see her, she comes up to me and she's like, can I have your grandma's number?

So the first time she asked me that, I was like, oh, her phone's disconnected.

And then she'd be like, okay, well, give her mine.

I never give it to my grandma because that's first of all weird.

But anyways, it was like, well, now when she asked me, I could tell her that my grandma's passed

because she's the last to wait and I don't have to tell her that I was lying about the bird.
