Galaxy. Our guest today is Mike Maniola, creator of the popular comic book

character Hell Boy,

who also appeared in two feature films directed by Germo del Toro.

Maniola has also collaborated with author Christopher Golden

on a trio of illustrated novels entitled,

Baltimore or the Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire,

Joe Golum in the drowning city,

and Father Gaetano's puppet catechism.

Okay, so first of all, just how did you decide

to start doing prose fiction?

Well, I had come up with an idea for a graphic novel, the Baltimore and the Stedveston soldier, or the Stedveston

soldier, and I just never got around to it. Hellboy, you know, was taking up more and more of my time and the Baltimore storyline got

bigger and bigger and I realized I was just never going to be able to take a year away

from Hellboy to do this thing.
