| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Keto and Interminute Fasting podcast, where Dr. Berg takes you on the journey for the truth about getting healthy and losing healthy weight. There are seven unexpected benefits from using baking soda. |
| 0:27.4 | Now, most of you probably have baking soda in your refrigerator to help decrease odors. |
| 0:32.8 | And you may also know that it's good for removing stains in your carpet and to use as a kitchen cleaner. |
| 0:40.0 | But there's some other really interesting benefits that you probably didn't hear about. |
| 0:45.3 | Now, what is baking soda? It is sodium bicarbonate. About four million years ago, in the area of |
| 0:52.0 | Wyoming, there was a salty lake that dried up to form what is called |
| 0:57.2 | trona deposits. And these deposits are basically sodium carbonate. So that's what they make |
| 1:03.6 | sodium bicarbonate from the sodium carbonate. So most of the baking soda sold in the world |
| 1:09.2 | comes from this one place in Wyoming. |
| 1:11.5 | So let's talk about number one. |
| 1:13.7 | You can use it as a teeth whitener because it does whiten your teeth, |
| 1:17.1 | but it can also be used as a mouthwash to help reduce bacteria in your mouth, |
| 1:23.5 | especially the ones that cause bad bread. |
| 1:26.5 | Now, what's fascinating about this is that these microbes |
| 1:30.6 | exist in a certain pH, and they cannot exist in different pHs. And so when you alkalize the mouth, |
| 1:40.8 | you make an environment very difficult for certain acid bacteria to grow, as well as the |
| 1:48.6 | bacteria that make tartar and placking. And so baking soda is really good to reduce placking in your teeth. |
| 1:54.7 | And it can be used as a mild abrasive to help clean the teeth as well. So you just take a |
| 1:59.9 | tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of water, |
| 2:02.5 | mix it up, and brush your teeth. All right, that's number one. All right, number two, you can use it |
| 2:07.1 | as a natural deodorant. Normally, sweat does not have any odor. It's the bacteria that gives |
| 2:14.7 | you the odor. And like I just said, number one, baking soda being alkaline, |
... |
