Number one, the top idea that every Democratic state

should enact today is a statutory right to vote for every eligible citizen

in the state. Okay, this may seem like something very simple, but it is actually the most

important thing that every blue state could do right now. Why? Because through a series of court decisions, mostly at the U.S. Supreme

Court and the federal courts, the right to vote, which by the way does not exist in the U.S.

Constitution. There's actually no place in the U.S. Constitution where it provides a right to vote.

In a lot of cases that have been decided over time, the courts have basically balanced

the citizens' right to vote against a bunch of other interests. So usually what the courts are saying

is that they have to balance the right of a person to vote against the administrative needs or the convenience
