Hormone imbalance signs are often very easy to detect, just by looking in the mirror!
The thyroid gland is small but controls your digestive system and metabolism. If your thyroid hormones are too high, you may notice bulging eyes, a fast metabolism, significant weight loss, and excessive sweating.
A hypothyroid will cause weight gain and hair loss. Around 90% of hypothyroidism is an issue related to the immune system called Hashimoto’s. If you have Hashimoto’s, you’ll want to avoid gluten and increase selenium and vitamin D3.
Androgens include testosterone and DHT. High levels of androgens can cause acne, specifically around the jawline and on the back. Women may experience a deepened voice, increased facial hair, and may also notice hair thinning. Men with high androgens may experience balding.
To keep your androgen levels normal, avoid carbohydrates, sugar, and starches, and avoid frequent eating. Also, use a high-quality water filter to avoid plastics.
High cortisol symptoms include a round face (cortisol face), buffalo hump, and weight gain in the midsection. High cortisol can exaggerate stretch marks in women and speed up aging.
High estrogen symptoms include a puffy face, spider veins, skin tags, and melasma. Low estrogen can make you appear older and cause wrinkles. Cholesterol is vital for estrogen production, so certain drugs and low-fat diets could cause your estrogen levels to decrease.
When growth hormone declines, you may look older and gain weight in the midsection. Intense exercise for short durations, a low-carb diet, and more sleep can increase growth hormone.
High progesterone is rare but can cause fluid retention. Low progesterone is much more common and can cause a puffy face. You might also appear dull and tired, and may experience acne.
High insulin symptoms include belly fat, skin tags, and swollen eyes. Low insulin can cause excessive weight loss, cravings for carbs, and constant hunger. Sugar, starch, and frequent eating trigger insulin.

0:00.0 | Hey, Dr. Berg here again. Today we're going to talk about the seven visible signs that you have hormonal imbalance. |
0:07.3 | And you could see these things very easily when you look in the mirror. |
0:10.9 | At the end of this video, you're going to be able to look across the room and observe something |
0:15.2 | and pretty much know if that person has too much of a certain hormone or not enough. |
0:20.5 | Let's first start out with the thyroid |
0:22.0 | gland. Your thyroid gland is like right here. It's like two and a half inches wide. The thyroid is a |
0:26.4 | small gland, but it controls your metabolism. If these hormones are too high, your eyes are actually |
0:32.5 | going to start bulging out. Your metabolism is going to be very fast to the point where you're going to lose a lot |
0:38.0 | of weight. This is not a good thing because it's going to be a very unhealthy weight loss. And you |
0:44.1 | might see a lot of sweating with a hyper thyroid problem. On the flip side, if the thyroid is |
0:49.9 | not working enough, that's called a hypothyroid condition. This is going to cause more weight gain. |
0:56.1 | And the hair, you're going to see that the hair is going to be thin, it's going to be dry. |
1:00.5 | 90% of hypothyroidism is a type of thyroid problem that is related to the immune system. |
1:06.9 | It's called Hashimoto's. It's an autoimmune condition where your own body is creating antibodies against your own thyroid, destroying it, creating an underactive thyroid coming from the immune system. A very important thing about that condition is to avoid gluten from grains. You need to take more selenium. You can get enough selenium from having one Brazil knot. |
1:28.5 | Selenium also improves the immune system. And so does vitamin D. So you're going to need high doses of vitamin D3 for Hashimoto's. |
1:37.3 | Let's move to number two, which is androgens. One is testosterone and the other is D-H-T. If there's too much androgen, you're going to get acne around your jaw line, around your back. |
1:51.6 | And both men and women. In women, their voice is deeper, more facial hair. And they will also start noticing receding in the top part of their hair versus if men have too much androgen, they'll start having male pattern baldness. This is why it's so important to avoid carbohydrates, sugars, starches, and also not to eat so frequently. On the flip side, if someone doesn't have enough androgen, let's say |
2:20.5 | men, if they're low in testosterone, they're going to get lowered amount of muscle. Men will also |
2:26.6 | lose hair on the bottom part of their legs if they don't have enough testosterone. The other thing is |
2:32.9 | to avoid plastics. So you want to get a really |
2:35.8 | good water filter because that's where most people get their plastics from city water. Let's move to |
2:41.3 | number three. Cortisol. Cortisol is a stress hormone. And if it goes too high, you're going to get |
