Do you need a training intervention?

While people seem to be more aware of the cumulative effects of training stress and the need to integrate training into their lives with a pragmatic approach, it still seems that confusion reigns among those who are simply checking the boxes.

This week, by request, Matt presents two important case studies for the time-starved athlete. He digs in on the training landscape of these two individuals and, while they may be training for the same race distance, have employed two very different approaches.

Within the discussion, Matt dissects:

  • Classic mistakes many time-starved athletes face
  • How to adapt your training to fit into your time-starved life
  • The need for recovery and how to integrate it within training
  • How to optimize the training hours that you do have
  • Types of workouts that may be beneficial for time-starved athletes

This mission of this episode? Clear up the confusion and give you the courage to to simplify and make bold decisions to create a runway to success.

And welcome to the Purple Patch podcast, as ever, your host

0:23.8

Matt Dixon. And this week, case studies. By request, yes, we're diving into the case studies for

0:31.2

the time-starved athlete once again. And the reason for it this week is a couple of people reached out

0:36.6

to me with questions focusing

0:38.5

around time staff training and plans. And while the questions focused on slightly different

0:43.3

topics, I couldn't help but join the dots and see how they were aligned. Now we're going to

0:48.4

dive into those topics and questions in today's show. But the one thing that became apparent to me

0:53.3

is that while people seem to be

0:55.1

finally aware of training stress in the integration into their life, as well as the need for

1:00.4

busy people to take a more pragmatic approach to their endurance training, it still seems that

1:05.9

confusion reigns. And so, the mission of today, try and help clear things up. We're going to do a deep dive

1:12.7

into time-staffed training of one of the toughest events to get ready for, the Iron Man. Of course,

1:19.1

you see. Yep, it's my expertise. But today's show isn't just about triathlon. It just so happens

1:26.0

that both of our case studies are triathletes, one doing it

1:29.7

really well, one, well, not quite so much. And so to gain the understanding to evolve into education,

1:38.0

I'm afraid we've got to rip one approach apart, but it's all in the quest of education. And then my

1:43.3

hope is to showcase a slightly more

1:44.8

pragmatic and longer serving approach that ultimately allowed great performance. And so today,

1:51.2

case studies for the time-staffed athlete once again. But first, let's talk about poo.

1:57.0

We like the way he thinks, serious with a wink.

2:01.4

Let's open the book.
