0:02.1 | Last nine years, I have probably consumed without exaggeration like 10,000 stakes. That was one of the things that struck me 10 years ago when I first went carnivore. It was like, I don't even know my digestive system's working because I don't feel anything. I have no perception of digestion. It was like going from a beat-up junkie car to hopping into a European luxury car. And I was all the road noise. Where's all the bumps? And it was just like, it's like super smooth. |
0:02.1 | They often go into these diets with the expectation that they're going to lose a bunch of weight and therefore they will consciously really over-restrict what they're eating. So they end up with fatigue. Sometimes if they do it long enough, they end up with hair loss, symptoms that go with just basically undernourishment. And then they'll say, it's because I didn't need carbs. It's often just not consuming enough calories in general. I mean, there is a point where we can be in a caloric deficit up to a certain point, but at the same time, if we exceed that for too long, we're going to run into some real problems. Catching the signal when to eat and not to eat is important. If I were to say, where do you need to be? From a |
0:57.1 | strength standpoint, you should probably be in the top third or top quartile for your peers. You know, |
1:01.4 | as 60-year-olds, I should be in the top 25%. If you're average at 60, you're not very functional. |
1:06.5 | You're probably, you can walk around a little bit, maybe do a little bit of strenuous stuff, but not much more than that. That's the average person. I don't think that's quite good enough. |
1:14.9 | Sean, when you see somebody transitioning to either a low-carb, keto, carnivore diet, what are the |
1:21.8 | biggest mistakes you see them making? Yeah, so I think that one, they often go into these diets with the expectation that they're going to lose a bunch of weight and therefore they will consciously really over-restrict what they're eating. |
1:37.2 | And so they end up with fatigue. |
1:39.9 | They end up with sometimes if they do it long enough. |
1:42.8 | They end up with, you know, hair loss, |
1:46.7 | you know, symptoms that go with just basically undernourishment or not providing enough energy. |
1:52.3 | And then they'll say, well, it's because I didn't eat carbs. |
1:55.3 | And, you know, then they'll hear, well, you need to eat carbs for your thyroid, |
1:58.2 | or you need to eat carbs for your testosterone or your gut |
2:01.4 | or whatever it might be. |
2:02.3 | And it's often just not consuming enough calories in general. |
2:05.1 | I mean, there is a point where, you know, |
2:07.8 | we can be in a caloric deficit up to a certain point kind of safely. |
2:12.4 | But at the same time, if we exceed that for too long, |
2:15.1 | we're going to run into some real problems. |
2:16.5 | The other thing is sort of just not focusing on good food. |
