0:30.0

Hello and welcome back to Cult Leader. I'm your Cult Leader Spencer Henry and welcome back to your 1 milli-a-th day of being at home.

0:49.0

I feel like I keep seeing more and more slowly, we're kind of moving towards reopening. And I think the weird thing is that we've never really been through this before, so nobody knows how to handle it right?

1:03.0

I don't know. I go like so back and forth myself. I mean obviously I want to be out in the world, but I'm also terrified of getting and or spreading this virus. It's just such a fucking weird time.

1:21.0

And then there's all these other things that I keep seeing in the news, like aliens and I'm like like nobody's paying attention to that, but apparently aliens, like proof of UFOs and stuff was released by the government. And what else? Murder Hornets, which are apparently a species of wasp that are literally like can kill people and apparently if they inject you, it's like metal liquid metal burning through your skin. I'm like I don't know.

1:49.0

I just I kind of feel just nervous in general. I mean I feel like most of us probably have anxiety. If you're listening to me, you probably have anxiety at some point in your life, but I'm like this is just 2020's not doing it for me. I'm just ready for a redo, ready for a fresh start. And then like I have some friends who are like, oh yeah no we're going to be out of this soon.

2:13.0

Things will be back to normal before we know it. And then I have my other set of friends that are like, well according to this scientist, we'll be out of this by mid year next year. And I'm like that just makes me feel crazy. So I'm just I'm just not listening to the news.

2:31.0

I honestly, I haven't been reading anything lately other than what I see and like one offs from Twitter or just from like what things that my friends tell me because it's overwhelming. I feel like that's what makes everything worse. And I know I've talked about that before. I don't know if I've talked about it on here or just online, but like seeing all these people post online when none of them know what the fuck they're talking about is also just aggravating like I follow some people who are like, oh yeah.

3:01.0

Yeah, we're suing California. We got to get out there. We got a protest. I'm like, are you just fucking mental or like there's other people who are just like not really quarantining, but they're saying they're quarantining.

3:15.0

I don't know. The whole situation should be no one's right or wrong. It's all just like everybody just needs to do what they can. And I do want to say like I have a platform. So I want to use it. And I do think that it's really important.

3:30.0

That we pay attention to the people that are suffering from it because at the end of the day, right, it's not about me. It's not about you. It's about the people that are actually going through loss right now.

3:41.0

It's about the people who are actually being put at risk because they're a quote unquote essential employee. And I think one of the biggest things to look at and some articles that I actually have read, which I'll share on my stories eventually.

3:56.0

But I was reading an article the other day about how the Latino community in Chicago, I think it was is like the biggest percentage of corona virus cases because a lot of them have these quote unquote essential jobs.

4:13.0

And it's just like it's crazy to me how how much classism is involved in this and how much like racism. I guess the racism doesn't surprise me because this is America. And we live in a time where unfortunately racism is still in every day occurrence.

4:32.0

But I think that at the end of the day, no matter what, it's just important to remember that like it's affecting everybody. But like you should just be fucking grateful. I try and remind myself to be grateful that like, okay, the worst part of this is me having to be home. But like calling our governor a Nazi or trying to enforce rules based on scientific data is just like beyond. But that's my tangent. That's my tangent for today.

4:59.0

And let's get to the fucking distractions because honestly, I need it clearly. I think we all need it. I want to talk to you guys about two different cases today. And so the first one is actually one that I wrote this the notes for this episode.

5:17.0

So like I think in August of last year and I actually had to ask on the Facebook group before I started recording this like, did I did I talk about this case already. And if you are on Facebook, then you already know where this is going. We are talking about a case from 2009. And that is the death of Hollywood actress Brittany Murphy.

5:41.0

Now you're probably thinking, hey, that's not a murder. But there's a lot of speculation that there is more to this story than was told.

5:50.0

If you don't know who Brittany Murphy is, you're too young to be listening to Cult Leader. But really, she was like an Iq girl in the 90s, early 2000s. And some of my personal favorite films that she ever starred in were, well, she was Thai in Clueless, which was like iconic, like rolling with the homies, right.

6:08.0

And then Lisa and Drop Dead Gorgeous, which I believe is still on Hulu, which you should watch. If you've never seen Drop Dead Gorgeous, it's so fucking good. Like the best movie ever.

6:19.0

But the role that always kind of stuck with me the most was her portrayal of Daisy Randone in Girl Interrupted, which also is an iconic movie.

6:29.0

Loved watching that in my teen years really amped up that depression. And she went on to do a lot of other work. I always forget this. But one of her biggest money makers was she was the voice of Luan on King of the Hill for something crazy, like 260 episodes or something.
