Summary

Kids need mental strength just as much as adults, especially right now. So I'm thrilled that my first-ever mental strength book for kids has hit the shelves. It's called 13 Things Strong Kids Do.  My book teaches kids how to build mental muscle so they can think big, feel good, and act brave. And while my book is written for kids, it’s important for the adults in their lives to reinforce the material.  After all, kids often need a coach who is there with them in the moment. So when they’re tempted to give up or when they begin to doubt themselves, we can teach them how to apply the exercises to real-life situations. On today’s Friday Fix, I share the 13 Things Strong Kids Do and some strategies you can use to encourage your kids to develop these healthy habits now. Learn more about your ad choices. 1:12.1

Well, the book is written for kids in the 8 to 12-year-old range. I know that most of you who are listening to the show don't fit that criteria. But I bet you might have kids or teach

kids or coach kids or at least know a few kids who could benefit from building mental strength.

If you don't have kids in your life, though, don't go anywhere. I suspect you'll still find

this episode helpful

because the exact same strategies that work for kids work for grownups too. I'd been wanting

1:33.2

to write this book for a long time because the number one comment I hear from readers of my

1:37.5

adult books on mental strength is, I wish I could have learned these things sooner. And while my

1:43.1

adult books focus on what not to do, the kids' book focuses on what to do.

1:48.5

If kids learn these skills now, they won't grow up to develop the unhealthy habits that can

1:53.7

rob you of mental strength as an adult.

1:56.5

Of course, no kid is going to do all of these things all the time.

2:00.4

Adults don't even do that.

2:02.1

It's important, however, to foster these habits in kids now so that they can grow and learn.

2:07.1
