Welcome to the Daily Meditation podcast. I'm Mary Meckley and I'm a meditation teacher who shares

So every day this week I'll be sharing a meditation technique to help you find your own inner

And these techniques can be done whether you're seated, meditating, or whether you're

right smack in the busiest part of your day.

Meditation techniques help you to transition from whatever you were doing before you sat down to meditate.

Maybe you were feeling distracted, overwhelmed, stressed, or maybe you were very excited to sit down and meditate.

Well, meditation techniques help to transition you to that inner place of stillness.

It's pretty hard to just sit down and boom, you're meditating.

It usually takes a few techniques to help you transition to where you feel calm and you feel some inner peace.

And even when you get to that state, it's very common to feel your mind wandering,

to feel distracted.

This is called monkey mind in meditation and yoga.

And even longtime meditators experience this.

So meditation techniques are a way for you to refocus your thoughts.

And you can use these techniques, as I mentioned, any time throughout your day.
