Summary
Be guided in a meditation to release tension. You'll be guided as you layer several different meditation techniques from this week's meditation series, including an empowering affirmation, a calming breathing technique, and a mudra to help you focus your mind. This meditation will help you reduce tension by accepting yourself exactly as you are. This is part 6 of a 7-Part Meditation Series on to Relax + Let Go, Episodes 618-624. As always, you don't have to do the meditation techniques -- they are simply there to help you transition from your busy day to a state of stillness. The techniques also help to calm "monkey mind," when your thoughts continuously interrupt your meditation. | 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Daily Meditation Podcast. I'm Mary Meckley and I share a different meditation |
| 0:09.0 | technique every single day on the podcast. I'm a meditation teacher and I customize these |
| 0:15.0 | techniques to go along with our weekly theme. Each week, the weekly theme is different. And for this week, |
| 0:25.6 | in today's episode 623, the theme is all about reducing tension, letting go, just letting letting go releasing and accepting yourself for |
| 0:42.7 | exactly who you are where you are honoring yourself a lot of tension comes |
| 0:49.2 | from expectations others have a you or even expectations you have for yourself so when |
| 1:01.2 | you let go of that and just allow yourself to be naturally who you are you can feel a |
| 1:09.5 | tremendous amount of peace and calm. So in today's episode, |
| 1:15.6 | which is for a Friday, I refer to Fridays as Sip and Om day. And in the meditation, |
| 1:23.9 | I combine and layer several of the meditation techniques that we've explored |
| 1:30.0 | throughout the week into a meditation for you. So you can see how to layer the techniques |
| 1:35.0 | into one beautiful ritual for yourself. And I also share an herbal tea. And I share an herb with you because herbs can benefit you in a similar |
| 1:48.6 | way as do meditation techniques. So if you don't have time to meditate, you can always sit |
| 1:55.9 | and have a cup of tea. In fact, I always say that for me, tea is what slowed me down ultimately when I lived |
| 2:02.7 | in Japan and I studied the Japanese tea ceremony and I realized how this beautiful ritual |
| 2:11.0 | of sharing a cup of tea could be very meditative. And then I became involved in meditation and all things that lead to peace and stillness. |
| 2:24.3 | But I really never was interested in slowing down and meditating until I had that first, you could call that first taste of just sitting calmly with a cup of tea. |
| 2:38.6 | So I do attribute a lot of my own introduction to meditation as beginning with tea. |
| 2:46.4 | So I share an herbal tea with you every week. |
| 2:50.5 | Now the herbal tea I've selected to go along with this week's meditation series is a tea |
| 2:57.6 | that you may be surprised to hear me recommend and it's catnip. |
| 3:02.6 | Catnip is something that you think, oh, you know, you might give to your cat if you have a cat. |
