| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Almost 30 Podcast. I'm Lindsay and I'm Krista and we're your hosts, guides and friends on this path. |
| 0:07.0 | Almost 30 is not about your age, it's about the feeling. All of us are almost something, seeking community and resources to support the rumblings of transformation within us. |
| 0:17.0 | Our conversations are deep dives, shepherded by our insatiable curiosity and desire for connection and during inspiration and a sense of levity that we can all benefit from. |
| 0:28.0 | We're looking to find the magic in the human experience. Buckle up baby, your evolution is waiting. |
| 0:35.0 | Hello, hello, hello, welcome to Almost 30. |
| 0:39.0 | Everybody, welcome to the show. We're so glad you're here. I'm Lindsay and this is my best friend, Krista. We love to hang out every day and just bring you into our little world of curious happenings. |
| 0:54.0 | Yes, and today is going to be such a beautiful conversation that I feel like it's very necessary with Darren O'Lean about fatal conveniences his book around toxic products and harmful habits that are really making us sick. |
| 1:07.0 | And yeah, I was really grateful he could come into the studio and talk to us about this. And I remember when he first sat down, he was saying he's like, this isn't a book that I wanted to write. |
| 1:19.0 | You know, we don't always want to talk about things that are harmful to us or really wake up and recognize the way that we've been living and the way that we've been operating in such a toxic environment with so much toxicity around us. |
| 1:33.0 | That the things that we're doing are really harming us, although they're making our lives easier. They can be so harmful. So it was just really opening for me and I'm really excited to have him on to explore this. |
| 1:45.0 | And especially because in the book fatal conveniences his book, there's a lot of really actionable clear information on what to do. There's tons and tons of research. |
| 1:54.0 | And it's just very easy to follow. And so I'm hopeful that you guys get inspired to get the book after this. |
| 2:02.0 | Yeah, I think sometimes we can, you know, listen to podcasts or read books about this type of thing where it's like, hey, so the thing that you've been eating or doing or wearing or whatever for so long. |
| 2:15.0 | This thing could potentially be disrupting your hormones or toxic, etc. And it becomes an overwhelming experience. |
| 2:25.0 | But what I've realized in just the work that we do because we're exposed to so much of this information is that eventually and you can do this one thing at a time. |
| 2:36.0 | It does not need to be a whole life overhaul, but eventually this way of life of being aware of all the plastics and how they, you know, seep into our foods, etc. |
| 2:48.0 | This becomes normal and easier as time goes on. I think we've been so indoctrinated into this world of like convenience and this world of like just quickness of getting what we need fast, easy ordering on Amazon, everything's in plastic, etc. |
| 3:08.0 | But I'm so glad that I've been exposed to this. I'm sure you are too. I think about our friend like Courtney Swan, for example, I feel like being around people who have an awareness, you realize that there is a very possible way to start living a cleaner life. |
| 3:27.0 | And in doing so, I think it's, you know, they say vote with your dollar or it's just like make change with your dollar. |
| 3:33.0 | Just being sure that you are being mindful about, yeah, what's in your environment, what you're eating, etc. |
| 3:40.0 | You are not only going to be healthier for it, but also I believe in big and small ways it's going to change the way in which companies think about what they are producing and how they're producing it. |
| 3:53.0 | Yeah, one of the fatal convenience is that's discussed in something that I thought about because I had a friend in high school that got TSS, which is toxic shock syndrome, which is what happens when you have a tampon in for too long, and she almost died, like she lost so much blood, it was, it changed her life, and that's essentially like a fatal convenience. |
