Tsunami warnings have been cancelled along the coasts of California and Oregon after a

magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit the Pacific Ocean just southwest of Eureka, California earlier today.

Some areas briefly issued evacuation orders, but they were quickly rescinded after it was clear

massive waves were not about to come on shore.

Daphne was in San Carlos just south of San Francisco when it first hit.

I was looking at my phone in my car when the earthquake happened.

I noticed that the car was shaking a little bit for about five to ten seconds.

The U.S. Geological Survey says earthquakes this strong are really rare. We only see about 15 around the world each year.
