Hi everyone this is your host John Hagenorn and this is one thousand one classic short stories best of

meaning I recently printed out a list of the most listened to episodes in order and the g k.. Chesterton Father Brown mystery, The Blue Cross, came in number six out of 443 episodes here.

For those of you who are new to Father Brown, he's a priest at St Mary's Catholic Church in a little tranquil town

in England called Kotswold Village. He's a very inquisitive clergyman and he has a nose for solving

crimes which there are no shortage of

apparently in little Cotswald and make a note he also has a friend named

Flambeau who in the early episodes was a world-class jewel thief in later episodes he retired from that profession and turned honest and he helps Father Brown in his later stories.

You've heard me mention that I watched Father Brown episodes at Britbox and I really enjoy sharing his short stories here at 1001.

By the way, my older sister who now lives in Westchester PA gifted me a book of Father Brown's stories many years ago,

and that's what got me interested initially, long before podcasting.

Father Brown is a fictional Roman Catholic priest, an amateur detective who is featured in 53

short stories published between 1910 and 1936 written by English novelist G.K. Chesterton.

Father Brown solves mysteries and crimes using his intuition and keen understanding of human nature.
