President-elect Donald Trump showered praise on several of his administration picks and close allies at a gala at Mar-a-Lago

last night, including his selection for Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy,

Jr. He adds to the list of controversial picks from Trump, because he's one of the U.S.'s

most prominent anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists, who spread false theories

about their safety and efficacy many times over the years. And shares of prominent vaccine

makers plunged yesterday after RFK Jr.'s selection was announced. It once again raises the question

of how much the Senate is likely to challenge Trump's

picks, if at all.

The incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune dodged the question on whether he would support

RFK Jr's selection, instead calling for scrutiny of nominees to hold off until the vetting

process is underway.

Trump also announced last night that North Dakota

Governor Doug Bergam is his choice to lead the Department of the Interior, while teasing

there would be another big announcement coming today. As world leaders gather in Peru for the

APEC summit, the uncertainty brought by Trump's upcoming return to the White House is expected

to loom large.

For China in particular, Trump has proposed hitting all its imports into the U.S. with tariffs,

upwards of 60%.
