From CNN, I'm Fez Jamil with the five things you need to know for Friday, September 27th.

Hurricane Helene made a historic landfall as a category for last night, becoming the strongest hurricane on record to slam into Florida's big bend.

It's now weakened to a tropical storm, but it's still unleashing life-threatening storm surge,

flooding rainfall, and destructive winds this morning.

It's already had devastating impacts in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, leading to at least

three deaths, knocking down power lines,

and leaving nearly 2 million customers in the dark.

Here's the mayor of Clearwater this morning.

We're south of Big Bend, but we had, uh, we had a very devastating night here in clear water. We had record

storm surge almost a full meter above the prior record that caused unprecedented flooding on our coastal community part of clear water and caused tremendous damage.

Now the fact Helene has made landfall doesn't mean the storm is over.

CNN meteorologist Allison Chincherr explains where it's heading next.

Continuing its trek up into Tennessee and Kentucky where then it will kind of hover over these states and that's unfortunate

because it means it will have a lot of time to dump a tremendous amount of rain

for some of these areas and some places have had plenty of rain so far.

Israel says it's considering the US 21 day ceasefire proposal across the Israel Lebanon

border.

This comes as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepares to speak at the UN General Assembly

later this morning.

Yesterday, Netanyahu said media reports suggesting there was an imminent ceasefire were quote

incorrect. Landing in New York, Netanyahu said Israel's policy was clear.

My policy, our policy is clear. We continue to hit Hezbollah with all our might.
