I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well-spit.

This is going to be a good conversation for me today, good for my heart and my soul, because sometimes I need some good preaching to about

believing the best about people. Ever struggle with that? Surely, I can't be alone. Well, we're

going to explore that in today's five-word prayers daily. My good friend posted something today on Instagram that I then promptly shared with my followers.

I loved it so much.

It was a quote by author John Green that said this.

Just remember that sometimes the way you

think about a person isn't the way they actually are. And oh my goodness, if it didn't hit me right

between the eyes, because I admit I've gotten it wrong about people before more than once.

I've thought things and I've assumed things about people. I've sized them up to be one way and then I got to know them and they completely weren't that way at all. Ever experienced that? I'm sure you have. And most of the time, maybe 99% of the time, what I thought was worse than the reality, right? They wound up being a much kinder, lovelier person than I

originally thought. Or maybe they were just different than I thought. So I was thinking about

today's online culture and how it's really easy to get it wrong about people, both good and bad,

make assumptions based on pictures and captions. And I've spoken out a lot about how

we who post things need to be responsible with our posting. And that still holds true.

But on the other side of things, while I don't think we are to be naive with people, nor do I think

we need to always let people into our world in a close

relationship, obviously. I do think there has been something lost in believing the best about

people, in the sense that we all have this value and purpose, and there are some really good people

left out in this world. A lot of us carry a chip on our shoulder, I think, and we miss out

on beautiful relationships because we're either stereotyping people and become scared of them,

or we're living jaded, and we are sure there's not a decent human left. Here's how the amplified
