Hi, and welcome to Five Word Prayers Daily, a five day a week daily devotional where we share the word,

prayers, and our heart. I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me,

which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent. We all want to have spiritual success, right?

What I mean by spiritual success is we want to be consistent in our relationship with God.

Stay in close contact with him, keep the faith when times get tough instead of running away

or that good old-fashioned term backsliding. Oh, I really don't like that word, to be honest.

I have so many people ask me, Lisa, how can my faith stay strong? I found a really important way to do

just that. And that's our conversation today on the five-word prayers daily.

If only being a consistent, strong Jesus follower weren't so hard, right? Yeah. It's something I think we have all thought at one time or another. If not, please write in and tell me how you managed to do this so perfectly, because I clearly missed the class on that. The world pulls at us and we have the best intentions

to be a strong believer. But I've often said this, passion without preparation is a good intention

designed to fail. Someone is thinking, repeat that. So here I go again. Passion without preparation

is a good intention designed to fail.

We can want to stand strong for Jesus all day long and not waver in our faith and remember

what is true about God in hard times.

But if we don't put our minds and hearts in that position, the truth is we won't do it.

So a way I found to stay strong in my daily, really even my daily

in minute-to-minute relationship with God, because our relationship with him is lived every

second and moment, is in this practice of memorizing scripture, knowing the word of God

is literally like having the antidote for whatever is our problem in our

backpocket at all times. We're suddenly afraid. Jesus has the antidote for that. We're suddenly

feeling very alone. Jesus has the answer. Everything we need to know is found in the Word of God.

Everything. And when we have made a practice to memorize the word,
