I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

The older I've gotten, the more I've gotten comfortable saying these words, I just can't do that.

Not in the sense that I won't try things. I've actually gotten more daring the older I've gotten. Can you believe that? I went

waterfall jumping in Jamaica this summer, y'all. But in the sense that as I've grown up a bit,

I've realized that I can't do everything and it's actually healthy to be able to recognize and acknowledge

that. Anyone else feeling like something is over your head too big to tackle or above your pay

grade right now? So let's talk about it. One of my prayers and five-word prayers devotional book is this one.

This is beyond my ability.

I know it might at first seem like an odd way to pray, but it's meant to be a prayer of

acknowledgement and surrender to say to the Lord, this thing in this moment, it's beyond me.

It's bigger than I can handle, it requires more wisdom and discernment and patience,

and whatever than I have or could come up with on my own.

I found not only a lot of comfort

in praying this, and by the way, I'm praying it a lot lately just as I parent young adults

and maneuver even things like this new podcast, but I've also found a lot of power in it as well.

It seems like that when the world preaches we are to be our own everything,

conceding them that something is too big or hard for us would be like failing at life. But really,

in the kingdom of God, that's success, because that's when we have finally deferred to God.

I don't care who we are, how capable we are, we weren't meant to be

sufficient in our abilities. Otherwise, we would never need God. And so 2 Corinthians 129 is always

the key. It says this, but he said to me, and here, he is God and me is Paul. And Paul is
