Hi, and welcome to Five Word Prayers Daily, a five day a week daily devotional where we share the

word, prayers, and our heart. I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me,

which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent. There's something I have seen unign us as

humans this past year, and it's been rather interesting. It's probably not what you're

thinking, or maybe it is, but I want to have a conversation about it because it's become quite a way of

life for many of us lately, and for all of us, year has definitely not been a political party, right?

Oh my.

Or a point of view, or even our disappointment over Chip and Joe going off the air.

Okay, maybe we women especially have united a bit about that. But this year maybe more than ever, at least in my lifetime,

I've watched us as a country and maybe even as a world, be united in our fear.

It seems like we're always talking about our fear, about this world, about our lives,

about fears for our children, and raising them up in a world of unrest. We are more fearful and

anxious than ever. I was surfing the TV not long ago, and I heard a statistic in passing where

they said that over 60% of Americans suffered from some form of anxiety at this

point. And I have to say, I think this statistic may be a little low. We're nervous, anxious,

worried, and fearful people. I hear us talk about it all the time. When I travel and speak,

we have these conversations. I have coffee with my friends. My neighbors talk about it.

All of us, even church people. Okay, so we get it. Now, what do we do about it that we're nervous,

anxious, fearful people? That's the real point of conversation for here.

Here's what I know. Only Jesus has ever made me better about anything in my entire life.

In my 40 years of a personal relationship with Jesus, there's nothing that has ever even come

close to changing me or healing broken places inside of me or calming my fearful or anxious
