Well, good evening from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and from LS Campus of LSU, and from Washington,

0:06.3

D.C. I'm David Shrubman. I'm the Executive Editor Emeritus of the Post Gazette. It's my

0:11.4

great pleasure to welcome all of you across the country in the Pittsburgh area, ships at sea,

0:18.2

Newfoundland, Montreal, Boston everywhere for this town meeting sponsored by the Post Gazette,

0:26.4

and by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield to discuss the 2020 election. You know, before we start,

0:33.4

let me say that I've covered elections for the past 40 or so years. Every single, every four years,

1:22.7

gentleman is Albert Hunt, who for almost 40 years has been my friend, teacher and colleague,

1:29.6

and co-conspirator. He is former Washington Beough Chief of the Wall Street Journal, also a

1:37.2

Bloomberg syndicated columnist for the Hill newspaper, and probably the single most accomplished and

1:44.5

knowledgeable Washington commentator. So we're going to have a conversation here for an hour

1:49.8

about an election that's lasted for what seems like four years. And we're going to talk about the

1:54.8

2016 election, the 2020 election. Maybe we'll talk about 2024. It's got to be better than this one.

2:01.9

And we'll also entertain your questions about halfway through. So if you have questions,

2:06.7

you all know what to do. There's a chat, a Q&A function. Just get on that and we'll talk about,

2:12.4

we'll talk about what you want to talk about first. But first, I want to ask Albert and to ask James

2:19.2

to put this campaign in perspective. You both covered, you both either covered or participated
