Summary

This week we are going to tackle the topic of multiple event markers or specific reinforcement cues (both names for the same thing). This is a really hot topic on the internet right now, and lots of different trainers have their own recipes and systems. As usual, I want to go deeper than the recipes and look at what is actually happening with the behavior. Because when you understand how a particular system of cues (and they are all cues!) is applying the principles of behavior, then you can decide for yourself which bits you want to use in your own training, and eventually build your own system that meets your unique needs. Hey, guys, it's Hannah Branigan, and I'm excited to bring you another episode of drinking from theet, the podcast where we sometimes get real nerdy

0:22.3

about real dog training. So, what do you do on Friday nights? How dreamy would it be to hang out,

0:30.3

have a glass of wine, and talk about dog trading with me for the evening? What have we invited

0:34.8

a few more super nerdy dog training friends over to join us?

0:38.1

If that sounds like your idea of a good time, I have an opportunity you might be into.

0:43.3

On Friday, May 25th, my friend and colleague, Lindsay Wood Brown, who happens to be a board-certified

0:49.0

animal behaviorist, will be joining me for cocktails and an in-depth discussion on one of our favorite topics,

0:55.6

the conditioned emotional response.

0:57.5

In fact, you may recognize her name.

0:59.3

She was a guest on episode number 36, where we talked at a much shallower level on that exact topic.

1:07.3

She's going to be coming by.

1:08.4

She'll be hanging out at my house, so neither of us has to drive,

1:11.2

but you can join us virtually. It's not really a webinar, and it's not really a book club,

1:16.4

but it's guaranteed to be a lot of fun and very nerdy. The format's going to be similar to my

1:21.8

virtual workshops, but there's going to be no slides at all this time. There will be a little

1:26.3

reading for you to do in advance

1:27.7

so that you're prepared for the discussion and hopefully generate some questions that we can talk

1:31.9

about. And then on May 23 5th, which is a Friday, we will hang out, have a drink, and talk CERs.

1:40.0

We're going to use the same virtual classroom platform that we did for the Set It and Forget It Workshop if you participated in that one, which means that the whole session will

1:48.8

be automatically recorded.

1:50.1

I can't screw it up.

1:51.1

And then you'll be able to view that recording any time that you want after the fact by
