Was it like being a celebrity yoga instructor in Los Angeles?

Oh, that's good. You got me on the first question. Okay, so I'll tell you how it works.

So I played college football as a Big Ten linebacker.

And I was a scholarship athlete. But by Big Ten standards, all the things that made me a kind of an average college linebacker, I had 19 tackles against Ohio State. So I had one moment of glory.

Besides, that was pretty perennial second string. I think I had six or seven starts over my four years.

But I was,

by Big Ten standards, I was slow, weak, Jewish, funny, and very flexible. So when I moved to Los Angeles, like, those are all the things that made me an incredible yoga teacher.

So I was really busted up, injured. And I was living in New York City.

I was 24.

My back was going out all the time, like bad going out, like bedridden, you know,

and it was affecting everything.

I'm like, what's going to happen when I'm 44?

So this was 1993 before the yoga crazed hit.

I walked into a yoga studio.

And I was like, oh, this is fucking great.

And started practicing yoga, moved to L.A.

There was a guy from Texas who created a style called Anasara, this guy named John Friend.

I caught the, I kind of caught the wave of that.

And he had just released his first wave of instructors.

And Anasara Yoga is this very specific biomechanical

type of yoga it still can be very vigorous and playful and fun but it hit like as an athlete

it hit all the points it's amazing amazing for injury recovery so i took to it and i had for some reason
