0:49.3	something that is relevant to say in this true crime space, and we really love him because he
0:53.3	brings us this unique perspective that we didn't realize we would have until we start talking with him
0:59.1	and we walk away from the conversation feeling just a little bit smarter. But Tim, do you feel
1:03.2	smarter? How are you today? I'm doing good over here. I'm not so sure if I feel smarter today,
1:08.2	but definitely after speaking with David Perlmutter, I did.
1:12.2	And Dr. David D. Perlmutter is an author as well as the former dean of the College of Media
1:19.2	and Communication at Texas Tech University.
1:22.4	But now he is a full-time professor there.
1:25.3	So we've got them all to ourselves in this conversation,
1:28.8	and we speak about the very mysterious disappearance of Jody Hoosentrute from Mason City, Iowa,
1:36.9	on June 27, 1995. And it's a really mysterious disappearance, Lance. You could definitely
1:43.3	call it an abduction, certainly a crime
1:46.9	scene there in the parking lot of her apartment complex where it sure looks like she was abducted
1:53.4	from. So we kind of start there with David and we go over some of the facts. But as we mentioned,
1:59.0	David is big into media and communication.
2:02.5	And so what he really aims to do is sort of go back to the early days of this disappearance
2:08.9	and analyze the media and how it helps or hurts a case. And in this scenario, it's a little
2:15.2	extra interesting because Jody Housentrue was a member of the media.
