Summary

In book six, Molly strives for her dream dance role of Miss Victory while acting miss-understood. Along the way, she ponders some big questions, such as whether curls will change her life and what it will mean to have her father home from the war. During this episode, we consider if any of us truly go home again...and probe what happened to a real life Miss Victory from the 1940s. This hair-raising journey pushes the reader to consider the power of a perm and the perils of endless war (mostly the former). As hosts and avowed Mollys, Mary and Allison take this opportunity to talk about Molly as a friend, performer, and hair transformer.

Welcome everyone to American Girls The Podcast. This is the podcast where we're reliving

the American Girl Series book by book. I'm Mary. I'm still Allison. Still iconically Allison.

Allison, I can't believe we're here where you've made it to the last molly book. Sure has been

1:04.7

a journey. How are you? I am buried in paperwork right now. Please describe. So I've put out a

1:12.1

FOIA request to learn more about molly's teacher Miss Lavonda. We would all have some questions

1:18.8

about the cryptic deaths that are mentioned very much in passing in this book. I am filling out some

APBs to learn more about Emily Bennett who's fallen off the face of the earth as well as Ms. Gladys

Kilford. Listen, Ms. Kilford is I'm seriously worried about her and I'm very thankful that she

is living through the time of the advent of social security because this family will certainly not

be caring for her in her very golden years because she's been missing a very long time. She missed

the bus. We learned that in this book and she's missing bigger ways and no one seems to care except

you and me. No, I mean, there are more people who have come and gone in this cast of characters than

don't ever get any kind of follow up and her mother is just kind of like classic Ali Gali molly,

old Ali molly. No further increase. No one is is terribly worried and I'm not trying to bring a

cold war sensibility to this but I think like some people could be investigated a little bit more.
