Welcome to the Jay Scott Outdoors podcast. I'm here in Scott's Dill Arizona. I've got my friend Tom McReynolds of Black Mountain Outfitters. Tom how you doing?

Good. I'm looking forward to talking to you today about Black Mountain Outfitters.

Obviously the main part of your business in the state is New Mexico.

Yes.

It's a large portion and then you have a big operation down in Mexico as well and you do some

hunts in Arizona.

But I wanted to talk to you specifically today about the March 20th deadline.

I believe it's at 5 p.m. for New Mexico and so you know we're only about two weeks

away from that deadline.

Before we get into talking about the specifics, the units, and all the different, you know,

animals and stuff that you guide for there, compared to our podcast last year what are our

conditions like as we sit right now talking about moisture and what have you

compared to last year? Well it's looking to possibly be one of the best years we've ever had.

We've had record snowfall in our area.

I mean, we've had more snow in the past two to three months than we had in the past two to three years so it's going

to be a really good year I mean we're coming off of a year that was probably the

worst in history I mean hands down lot of bulls didn't get killed just because they were broken up or they just didn't grow.

And now we're going to have the perfect storm to probably have just an absolutely epic season

because a lot of older age class bulls that got passed on and then you got a lot of moisture

We even had a lot of moisture last fall, so there was a lot of feed on the ground

So the bulls came out of the red and they got a lot of body fat on them during the winter time and now they're going to have good feed in the spring so it'll be a good season.

So I mean I know it's probably hard to compare to years but you've been over in New Mexico a long long time I mean
