| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to a special edition of Mormon Stories podcast. I'm your host, John |
| 0:06.5 | Delin. And we're trying something a bit new. We're doing a video interview over Skype |
| 0:12.8 | where I'm interviewing my subjects and we're going to put it up on YouTube. And today, |
| 0:20.2 | we're super excited to have back with us together for the first time, Marisa and Carson |
| 0:26.9 | called her what it is currently Saturday, May 23rd. And two days ago on May 21st in the evening, |
| 0:37.9 | Marisa and Carson were executed from the LDS church. And so we just want to kind of capture that |
| 0:44.8 | story. So let's dive in. Who wants to start and kind of tell us, tell us how it happened? |
| 0:52.8 | Go for it. So to start off with, we asked when they said that we were both up for church |
| 1:02.1 | discipline, we asked if we could do it together. We asked in an email and said, you know, I said, |
| 1:09.8 | I don't want the little kids' ex communication, like I had said before. And so I didn't really expect |
| 1:15.9 | that they would grant that request, honestly. But they did. They said, okay, then if you want, |
| 1:21.2 | you can be tried in front of the entire high council and state presidency and they had us come in |
| 1:27.0 | at the same time, but take turns. Yeah, there is a stipulation in the handbook of instructions that |
| 1:32.9 | says that if you don't want to be tried by your bishop, then you can be by the stake. And so as women, |
| 1:39.6 | you can't do that, which we didn't, we weren't aware of. That's awesome. My best Kate would have |
| 1:43.3 | preferred that. Yeah, probably. And then we found after that, someone said that there's a bit of |
| 1:48.9 | a precedent for it where a couple of the women who were ex-communicated in the early 90s had also |
| 1:55.3 | said the same thing that they would rather have the full high council. Hmm, interesting. Okay, |
| 2:01.9 | well, that's cool. So you, they let you come together. That's interesting. It seemed like when I was |
| 2:06.5 | with my stake president, he wanted to deny any request I'd possibly make. And it sounds like with |
| 2:11.7 | you guys, they were at least willing to kind of accommodate a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. Like the |
| 2:17.6 | arstic president, like we still feel and we'll get in this later on, but he's super nice guy, |
