Summary

Dan and Nick break down the latest roster movement for the Giants. We knew this would be a fluid situation but Gettleman firing off a league-leading three waiver claims calls for a breakdown of each newly added player so we get to that, a practice squad update, practice notes, Andrew Thomas tape talk, and more Daniel Jones discussion.  Learn more about your ad choices. the giants claim three players so let's start there by breaking him down one by one let's start with

1:53.4

the most exciting one by far at one point talked about a potential day two pick for the giants

1:58.0

i never liked that at one point talked about a potential late,

2:01.2

three, early four for the Giants. I was a little warmer in that, but now it's just a free pass.

2:05.5

It's a free square. They got to claim Quincy Rochay, edge prospect from the Steelers.

2:10.7

Somebody we talked about a lot in the pre-draft process for a free square. It didn't cost them

2:15.0

anything. Now, it does ring a little bit of alarm bells for me, Nick, when a team that runs, not a similar system, but at least somewhat similar in the sense that they have, basically a three, four base, decided to pass on him, like the Steelers, especially after, you know, losing some depth there on the edge. I'm never going to get too excited about these back-end guys the teams are passing on, but I am a little bit excited. I'll be honest about this pickup because it's like a free square. It's, I mean, it's like you're getting a guy who's basically a mid-round talent for your specific system, a good fit for the Patrick Graham system. I wouldn't say he's a great pickup for other teams. But for our system, it feels like a solid pickup. What do you make of this one?

2:55.8

I definitely agree. I mean, Quincy Roche was somebody we talked about quite often because we watched a ton of Gregory Rousseau. Well, actually more specifically, Jaylon Phillips,

2:59.4

because Roussel was actually at Temple when Rousseau was playing there, the transfer from Temple

3:03.6

to the University of Miami, had a total of 137 tackles, 39 for a lost 26 sacks in college. I mean, look at him, man. He has some pretty good short area quickness, can hold about the point of attack. He's not known as an edge setter, but he has, I think that's something that he can develop. I think he's probably somebody who may have a little bit more upside than someone like at O'Shaines-in- that area, but he does have some flexibility in his lower half. He was productive in the ACC. Hick-Rose-Rose-Last year at Miami had 36 total pressures. And then in 2019 at Temple, he had 68. He finished his college career with 175 pressures. So this is somebody who knows how to rush the pass. I remember just going over his film. Somebody who had a lot of different pass rushing moves,
