In many ways, 1972 is also the high water mark for everything that we come to know of as

progressive rock.

Now, we might have, we might have also said that about 1973.

But I think 1972, I think the evidence here will bear this out.

Yeah.

Because we are going to have to talk about at least one canon album here.

Because it is, I think it stands as the greatest example, the archetype of progressive rock, what we think of as progressive rock.

I'm talking about close to the Edge by Yes.

And what I think is brilliant, another album I've had the honor and the pleasure to remix.

In fact, just recently I've done an Atmos mix of it as well.

What is so incredible about this album for me, and maybe you'll agree with me,

is that there are three very long pieces on this record,

which are ridiculously eclectic.

Yeah.

A dissonant, melodic, experimental, accessible, and yet the architecture of the way these long pieces are structured is phenomenal.
