Summary

Whether you think Valentine’s Day is romantic fun or an over-commercialized beast, we can use it as an opportunity to spread joy. This holiday seems reserved for couples without kids, but celebrating love is something everyone can partake in. So whether you celebrate on your own, with friends, a significant other, or kids, here are some ideas to spread joy on Valentine’s Day. Send anonymous Valentines Send a secret Valentine to someone who will not be expecting it. Write a note of thanks or encouragement on it and surprise them! Maybe your pastor? The old lady who works at Target? Who will you give this secret gift to? Express gratitude Think of someone in your life that you are grateful to and write them a real note of thanks. Spread the joy by thanking multiple people if you like! Volunteer somewhere Your local crisis pregnancy center or food pantry or nursing home would probably love for you to offer a few hours of your time doing whatever they need done. It could be as simple as making phone calls or making deliveries. Find out what they need and do it for them. For extra joy, bring your kids along! Give anonymous service Will you shovel your neighbor’s walkway? Do an extra chore around the house? Clean the classroom for your child’s teacher? Make this Valentine’s Day a joyful one by giving someone a gift of unexpected service. Love yourself Especially if you are tempted to throw a pity party for yourself because it’s not the Valentine’s Day of your dreams, look for a way to enjoy something and love yourself a little bit. Take some time to sip a cup of tea and read a book, enjoy a special treat, watch a show you love, get your nails done, or buy yourself flowers. Whatever will make you feel loved, take the time to take care of yourself and you will be ready to spread joy to others. Have feedback or an idea to share? I would love to hear from you!

Hey, girlfriends, how are you? Thanks for showing up. Thanks for being here for another episode of the Girlfriends Podcast. You know I always love to connect with you here on this early morning. First up, we need to check in after last week's episode about exercise and why you might be giving up on it or refusing to get started on it or already have given up on it. Did you change anything in the last

1:02.2

week? I told you last week that I've been working on using the T25 program with Shaw and T. I'm

1:09.2

still doing that. In fact, I just did it like an hour ago. I got up

1:12.9

real early. This is what I've been doing. I'm going to just share this real quick here.

1:16.9

Is I've been, and this seems like a no-brainer, and I think I used to do this in my past life,

1:21.6

looking at my schedule the night before, okay? And if it looks extra busy, I get up a little extra early to get that workout in.

1:31.6

Usually, if I don't have a really packed schedule in the morning and I'm worried that I'm not

1:36.3

going to be able to fit it all in, I will decide, you know, I'll get up, you know, just in time

1:40.8

to take the kids to school, which is seven-ish. And then when I get back,

1:45.6

I will do my workout. But sometimes, and today was one of those days, I'm looking at the

1:51.2

schedule and I'm like, oh my gosh, I'm not going to get all that done before lunch. And I know

1:55.3

what happens after lunch. My schedule falls apart. I get interrupted by other people's projects.

2:00.2

I get phone calls.

2:02.9

And then later in the afternoon, kid driving starts.

2:05.7

So I really count on my mornings for getting stuff done.

2:08.5

Anyway, so on those days, I choose to just get up an hour earlier and get that workout in first thing.

2:14.4

And it feels great.
