0:13.2	It's March 13, 2020, and Louisville Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad has called a press conference.
0:19.7	Good afternoon.
0:21.0	Early this morning we had a critical incident involving one of our officers
0:25.2	who was shot and another person at the scene was killed. Conrad says officers were
0:31.2	serving a search warrant when they were shot at. They
0:34.1	returned fire and killed someone after an officer was shot in the leg.
0:38.4	I want to say that we are extremely fortunate that our officer, Sergeant John Mattingly, was not more seriously
0:46.0	injured.
0:47.0	Sergeant Mattingly underwent surgery for a leg wound early this morning, and thankfully he is expected to make a full recovery.
0:55.0	Usually at these things Conrad releases body camera footage from the shooting but in this case
1:00.3	we have no body-worn video cameras to share with you from this morning shooting.
1:06.8	The shooting occurred during the execution of a search warrant by the criminal interdiction division,
1:11.6	and despite promising in 2016 to equip every officer with a body camera.
1:16.0	Some of the officers assigned to this division do not wear body-worn video systems.
1:23.0	LMPD has long made it a practice to call a press conference
1:27.0	when one of their officers kills someone.
1:29.0	Between 2016 and this moment,
1:31.0	LMPD officers have killed 16 people.
