Hello from CNN, I'm Chris Debeau with the five things you need to know for

Thursday, October 19th. The State Department has issued a rare warning to

all Americans overseas to exercise increased caution, citing rising tensions,

the potential for terrorist attacks, and demonstrations or violence against US

citizens and interests. The worldwide alert comes as anti-Israel protests continue in Arab countries.

And as the possibility of war escalating beyond Israel's borders continues to loom.

New preliminary U.S. intelligence indicates that the hospital explosion in Gaza Tuesday

likely killed between 100 to 300 people.

It also adds more detail to the assessments that Israel was not responsible for the blast.

Israel said the explosion was caused by a Palestinian Islamic jihad rocket, but Palestinian officials

continue to blame Israel for it. The blast contributed to an already dire

humanitarian situation in Gaza as Israel is signaling a ground invasion could be coming soon,

with its defense minister telling Israeli troops they'll soon see Gaza quote from the inside. The State Department

says 32 Americans have died in Israel since the start of the war with Hamas and

11 remain unaccounted for.

It's not clear if those are hostages taken by Hamas.
