Hello from CNN, I'm a Foma Dikay with the five things you need to know for Thursday

December 21st. As diplomats gear up for a vote on a resolution calling for a

pause in hostilities in Gaza, the U.S. is raising some concerns about it. A spokesperson for the U.S. mission to the

UN argues that the proposal could slow the delivery of critical aid. That's as the World Health

Organization says Northern Gaza no longer has a functioning hospital.

A WHO representative cited lack of fuel, power, medical supplies, and staffing shortages

and says the only nine hospitals that are operational out of 36 are in southern Gaza.

On to something that doesn't happen often in Europe, a mass shooting in Czech Republic.

Police say at least 14 people were killed and dozens of others were wounded in a

shooting at Charles University in Central Prague and that the suspected

gunman is dead. Authorities said they were helping students evacuate after

they locked themselves in

classrooms during the shooting. A photo on social media shows

some of them hit on the ledge of a university building to escape. The country's

police chief said officials received tips about the 24-year-old suspected gunman, who was a

student at the university, had a gun permit and owned several weapons.

The university said it tightened up security and canceled events on campus.
