Summary

Holy sh*t, Amanda Gorman has me HYPED. In today's 5-MINUTE FRIDAY, I'm chatting about how watching the 22-year-old poet and Harvard graduate inspires me to think big and dream crazy (as did most of Wednesday's inauguration festivities, TBH). Plus, the importance of us being one-another's cheerleaders and putting kindness first.

I'm so excited to be here with you. I'm so excited that this beautiful week was such a beautiful week.

I think a lot of us were a little bit on edge going into the inauguration, but the day was just filled with hope and

0:40.5

promise.

0:41.1

I loved what the president said about unifying our country and wanting to show up for everyone,

0:48.2

regardless of whether or not they voted for him.

0:51.0

Even more so, what I adored was seeing Kamala Harris and every single woman that

0:58.0

came up on that stage, whether it was Lady Gaga or Jennifer Lopez, the way that they looked

1:03.9

at her with such admiration and such awe, I think that woman all over the country, you know,

1:09.8

they feel that way and then they look at her

1:11.2

because Kamala is a hard worker and the first female in the White House properly as the vice

1:19.4

president of the United States. Like, it just, it's insane. What I want to talk about today,

1:24.9

like so much of the internet is talking about today, is

1:29.2

Amanda Gorman. Unless you've been living under Iraq, you, and no offense, maybe you've

1:35.5

had a busy week. Amanda Gorman is the poet that spoke and read at the inauguration. She was

1:43.4

the 2017 National Youth Poet Laureate. She graduated from

1:49.3

Harvard. She's a twin from Los Angeles. She has been very successful leading up to the

1:56.5

opportunity to speak at the inauguration. I was reading about her. She has written for the New York Times.

2:02.8

She's had a ton of amazing brand partnerships ranging from Nike to Prada. This young woman is a showstopper.

2:11.2

And the moment that she got up on the stage, she had such a poise and a presence and a confidence

2:16.9

about her that I thought was

2:18.5

really beautiful. And then her words, like, God, as someone who uses words a lot and says a lot of
