Good morning. Hello. Good morning. Hello. Good afternoon. Good evening. Whenever you are listening to this, Emily here. You are listening to a five-minute Friday from Hurtle. I hope that you had a good week. I had a good week. I will say that this, what we're calling it, fake spring in New York, these 50-something degree days that will not last through the spring months. I know we're

0:40.2

going to have like another cold reprieve. It's okay. We are tough enough to handle it, but it was so

0:45.9

necessary for me. And so many of you, I am sure, this week. I had a thought on the couch today,

0:53.8

and that's what I'm here to talk about. And that is about

0:57.3

bagels. I have been like everyone you're following on Instagram and TikTok and whatnot on the

1:06.3

protein bagel kick. The recipe is super simple, makes five to six bagels. It's two cups of all-purpose

1:13.2

flour, a teaspoon of baking powder, a half a teaspoon of salt, and two cups of either cottage

1:19.4

cheese or Greek yogurt. I go cottage cheese. I've been on this kick, and I've been making the

bagels for breakfast, honestly, almost every day. And when I in college changed the way that I was

1:38.5

eating and as a result lost a lot of weight, I mentally put bagels in the bad category. Like, in my mind,

1:49.8

I associated eating and consuming a bagel as bad. And I am someone these days that really doesn't

1:58.2

like to label foods at all good or bad. I believe that you can have

2:02.2

everything in moderation. Like, this is coming from a woman who once a week enjoys what I,

2:07.8

what we call pastry run club on Fridays. We run and try different pastries every Friday,

2:12.6

me and some friends. And I firmly believe that there is room for everything. Needless to say, with all

2:19.5

that said, I still have this thing where I don't eat a lot of bagels. I just don't do it until now.

2:26.6

And every single day, I'm not exaggerating for the last two weeks, I wake up, I use the bathroom, do my skincare, take medication,

2:38.2

walk into the kitchen, take out the toaster from the cabinet, put a protein bagel in the

2:44.6

toaster, and make my coffee. Once the bagel is ready, I put on a little bit of butter and I walk over to the

2:53.3

couch and I sit on my couch and I do my whole morning routine. And the only thing that's new

2:57.8

is a part of that morning routine is the bagel. I have eaten a bagel every day for the last two
