President Trump has announced a proposal for a new Golden Dome missile defense program.

It would be a multi-layered system that for the first time would put U.S. weapons in space.

Once fully constructed, the Golden Dome will be capable of intercepting missiles,

even if they are launched from other sides of the world and even if they are launched from space.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said the system would cost $175 billion in that he expects it to be fully operational before the end of his term.
