The 49ers identified the player they wanted with their first pick in the 2025 NFL

draft, but they felt that chances were slim that they could get him unless they traded up.

They did not make the trade, they held on for dear life, and they got him anyway.

The 49ers invested in the defensive line with their first

round draft pick. They got a player who is adept at playing the run and has a lot of upside as a

pass rusher. Jennifer Lee Chan and I will discuss the 49er selection of Michael Williams of Georgia

and where the team goes from here with 10 more scheduled picks over the next two days of the draft.

And Jennifer, we hear it all the the time we didn't think he would be

there when we picked but in this case it might actually be true with the 49ers right I

mean the way the first 10 picks played out was really in the 49ers favor I know we

were watching it in this room and we're like oh oh that oh, that was a surprise. Oh, another offensive lineman

went. So then they got their guy in McKell Williams and they have been looking for a bookend

for Nick Bosa since D. Ford was injured in 2019. And they finally got their guy, a guy who
