Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.

who picks up the pumpkin and gives the Rams the ball right back.

and that was the day in a nutshell.

The Niners came crashing back to reality at Levi's yesterday in a

depressing 42-26 loss to the L.A. Rams. Matt Stafford led his team to 401 yards of offense in one of the

most lopsided losses in the McVe-Shannahan ten years. Afterwards, Kyle Shanahan said

opportunities were there to get this one close.

As bad as it was at times, you know, I still believe if, you know, we convert that fourth and one in the first half and we don't turn it over on the other drive. It's a two-score game and I believe we're right in that. I believe it could have came down the end if we played a little bit better on offense in the first half. Obviously, we've got to get a D. D's got to get a stop there in the second half, but I still think we could have made that a game. The 49ers did nothing on their first two possessions of the game, and the Rams were up 21 zip in the blink of an eye. Basically the complete opposite of what happened the first time these two teams played. George Kitto put it bluntly when he was at the podium.

We started the game off with a punt, a fumble, a fourth down turnover, a touchdown

and a punt.
