I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Thursday, March 19, 26. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.

Mike Evans continues to be a hot topic of conversation, including by his former employer.

Buccaneers GM Jason Light spoke about Evans for the first time publicly yesterday, and he was pretty blunt about everything.

Quote, I don't feel betrayed. I'm in mourning. We made a

significantly higher offer than the 49ers, and that was just the first offer. Of course,

we know, Evan signed with the Niners on a three-year deal worth 42.5 million. That is really

more like a one-year deal worth 14.3 million since all but two million of the

guarantees are paid in the first year.

Light said, quote, there was basically nothing we could have done differently, and I feel very

strongly about that, end quote.

Now, a couple of things here.

First, it's great that the 49ers were attractive enough to not only

get Mike Evans to leave the Buccaneers, who he's been with forever, but also to do it for less

money. That says a lot about how he sees the Niners. And secondly, I'm just going to say this one

time, can we please put all the substation talk to rest? All the people during

Super Week that said the Niners wouldn't be able to get free agents and that they'd have to pay

more to get free agents because of the mystical powers of the substation and players talk to one

another and this is a thing and the team has to do something about this.

I said at the time it was only a talking point because the Super Bowl was in Levi's Stadium,

and there was a whole week before the game, and people had airtime they needed to fill.

And once that was no longer the case, it would disappear and it has.
